Our Mission
First Baptist Church is a multiethnic community of baptized believers and followers of Jesus Christ seeking individually and collectively to fulfill the Great Commission task as given by our Lord—“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you” (Matthew 28: 19-20).

Searching...
You are reading this page because you are searching for something. Perhaps you are new to town. Church membership has played a vital role in your life or the life of your family and you are looking to continue in that established tradition of involvement in a local community of faith. Maybe you have gotten out of the habit of going to church and you are looking to get “plugged” back in. Could it be that you have never had any real faith expression in your life but events and circumstances have brought you to a place of inquiry? Whatever the reason, we are glad that you have ended up here and we desire to be of help in your quest to discover the plans and purposes that God has for you.

What We Believe
The foundational values of our congregation are evident in our beliefs regarding the Scriptures, God, man, salvation, the Church, baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Scripture

The Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is the record of God’s revelation of Himself to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without mixture error, for its matter. It is our final authority in matters of faith and practice.

Salvation

Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration (conversion), sanctification (growth), and glorification (the final abiding state of the redeemed).

God

There is one and only one living and true God. He reveals himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

Church

A local body of baptized believers bound together by a covenant relationship with both God and one another. The local church is committed to the observation of the ordinances of Christ, His teachings, exercising the spiritual gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth.

Man

Man was created in the image of God and is the crowning work of His creation and, therefore, every person possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love. Endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice man sinned against God, and fell from his original innocence. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God.

Baptism

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus.

The Lord's Supper

A symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.
