First Baptist Church enjoys the fruit of the labor and vision from generations before us. There have been at least four
Landmarks that have defined the ministry of First Baptist Church.
Landmark 1891was the vision of six ladies who began the First Baptist Church in Lubbock and met in an unfinished jail; the
Landmark 1948 was the church's decision to move from downtown to our current location.
Landmark 1960 was the design and building of a state-of-the-art facility that met the growth needs of a growing congregation and city and provided new ideas for teaching preschool/children.
Landmark 1970 did not focus on a new building but provided an age appropriate worship service that set a new standard for reaching college students. Today we introduce to our church family
Landmark 2005, a long range, strategic plan that will provide space for a growing congregation and city, introduce "new methods" in reaching young adults and their families and prayerfully capture the attention of the large and growing segment of our city, the people who need a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
